How Service Impacted Me

Someone did service and it impacted me:

  1. Someone from my meeting called me when I missed a meeting. It made me feel wonderful to have been missed.
  2. Someone sold OA books and literature and they were always available at Oregon Intergroup. (when we met in person)
  3. Someone called me after my first meeting so… I came back.
  4. Someone welcomed me as a newcomer so it helped me come back.
  5. My sponsor had me run for Region Rep only my second year in program. Super positive experience for me.
  6. Someone volunteered to lead a marathon meeting during late hours in the night. It made a difference to me.
  7. Someone gave me a 12 and 12 and called me periodically. It got me started.
  8. Someone at one of my first meetings looked at me and said “I think you can do that” when we needed a new “sign in” book. I made it fancy and have the stationary I used to this day.
  9. Someone continued the face to face meeting in Vancouver all the way through the pandemic. We met outside through rain and storm. It kept me going.
  10.  I got outreach calls and they made me feel connected.
  11. I was invited to dinner before the meeting with other fellows. I felt very welcome and we had nice abstinent dinners.
  12. My first sponsor kept me on track to work, work, work through all the steps and it has been of tremendous impact on my life!
